For us, camera traps are an essential part of our research. They are our eyes in the field and help us with the daily monitoring of antelope behaviour, activity, and family relationships. Thanks to the photographs taken, we can also work on developing automatic recognition of Giant elands based on their striping.
But our camera traps sometimes attract other species besides antelopes. Like this hyena, for example. It got a bit carried away during the photo shoot and chewed up two of our camera traps!
